Our office is at the corner of Queen and Church Streets in historic Christiansted. The first floor of our building dates to the 1700s and features 21-inch-thick Danish brick walls and an 11-inch by 11-inch wooden beam, 34-feet long, that supports the second floor. We suspect that the beam was once the keel of a ship that called in Christiansted Harbor.

Modern improvements that help our clients include enhanced security, such as hurricane-impact resistant doors and windows, an alarm system including contact and motion detection sensors throughout, and improved network infrastructure for our computer systems. We keep a back-up generator and battery-supported computers to deliver ongoing operational ability in case of a hurricane or seismic activity.

We recently commissioned a historic research project of our office building. Click here if you are interested in reading a short narrative of our findings.

Unparalleled Representation At Every Level Of Territorial And Federal Courts

With more than three decades of experience in the territory, our attorneys fully understand the practical realities inherent in litigating claims arising in the Virgin Islands.

Our civil litigation and appeals practice focuses on cases involving:

  • Admiralty and maritime law
  • Insurance defense
  • Insurance coverage disputes
  • Products liability
  • “Daubert” issues
  • Environmental law

An engineer by training, our firm’s lead attorney, Andrew C. Simpson, can take a complex matter and reduce it to its elements so that a jury can more readily understand the issues. This background has proven to be particularly helpful in clearly explaining to juries how and why expert testimony may fail to meet the Daubert standard. You can read about some of our defense settlements and verdicts on our Representative Cases page.

Mr. Simpson’s background gives him exemplary experience for handling admiralty and maritime cases. He received his undergraduate training at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where he took a dual major and graduated with United States Coast Guard licenses as a Third Mate and Third Assistant Engineer. After sailing in the U.S. Merchant Marine on both licenses for several years, he earned his juris doctor at Tulane Law School, taking advantage of the school’s admiralty and maritime law emphasis. Mr. Simpson practiced exclusively in the admiralty and maritime law area for three years in New Orleans before broadening his practice areas when he moved to St. Croix.
